I had a truly strange encounter a few weeks ago. Leaving a home I was photographing, I noticed this bird, wings spread and completely stationary. Intrigued, I approached cautiously assuming the bird was injured. I got closer and closer but it still remained stationary. I did notice the eyes move a bit and the head would budge slightly. Ever more curious, I got right up close trying to figure out or see what was wrong but nothing stood out. I finally reached out to touch it/pet it to see how it would react and it didn’t. Though I felt guilty, I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures of the strange scene, and still nothing got it to move. I tried thinking of how I could help and finally decided that I couldn’t and left it to likely become a victim of the nearest dog. As I opened the rear hatch on my car across the street, still bewildered and watching the bird….it got up, starting walking and them took off flying and landed in a tree right by my car. I left feeling quite astonished. Good or bad Omen?
